Our yurt was initially purchased to have some family fun and provide extra accommodation when we had friends to stay, but it seemed too good an experience not to share it with like minded and adventurous visitors to Orkney.
Having spent many years overseas we would like to treat our guests to the sort of warm and friendly welcome we experienced so often on our travels.
We are open from the end of April until the beginning of October and we are happy to talk and provide travel advice or tour suggestions as we want to make your stay as enjoyable and interesting as possible.
We aim to make as little environmental impact as possible and use a wind turbine to generate much of our energy. Recycling and composting are central to our philosophy and we provide suitable bins for each. Wherever possible we have used reclaimed and recycled building materials and supply reclaimed or coppiced wood from our own trees for burning.
Our yurt stands in its own small field surrounded by trees with open farm land beyond.
A purpose built wooden cabin is close by for cooking and dining with clear views of the Old Rendall Kirk sitting half way up Enyas Hill.
A separate toilet and shower room has been created from the former girls' toilet block of the Old School.
