The Orkneyurt is modelled on a Mongolian Ger and was made especially for us near Balmoral in Aberdeenshire using wood from sustainable sources and heavy duty canvas to withstand the changeable Orkney weather. Our yurt stands in its own small field surrounded by trees with open farm land beyond.

We aim to make as little environmental impact as possible and use a wind turbine to generate much of our energy.  Recycling and composting are central to our philosophy and we provide suitable bins for each.  Wherever possible we have used reclaimed and recycled building materials and supply coppiced wood from our own trees for burning.

A purpose built wooden cabin is close by for cooking and dining with clear views of the old Rendall Kirk sitting half way up Enyas Hill.

A separate toilet and shower room has been created from the former girls' toilet block of the Old School.
